Here’s a few story ideas for free, from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies here at GSU. Notice they also have an experts guide, something most universities have these days, since their PR folks are eager for you to quote their professors. Here’s a similar story idea site from Ohio State. There’s nothing wrong with using the suggestions of PR people to help you do stories, but you want to be aware that as a journalist, it’s your responsibility to check out all the facts and be sure that you’re getting as many different perspectives on the story as possible, not just the one offered by the PR folks.
