Story Idea: Flood Safety

With all of the massive flooding in Missouri, I’m just curious what Georgia has in place in case the Chattahoochee River floods?  And, if we have levees, how long since they were last checked (though you think after Hurricane Katrina, all the levees in the nation would have been checked)?  I know Georgia doesn’t get flooding over the summer, but during the winter, it can rain quite a bit some times (and personally, I’d like to avoid what Missouri’s going through if at all possible).
