Hi, folks, I ran into Dr. Barthlow today, and he told me he has a lot of people wanting interns in the fall semester. I know most of you are focused on graduating as soon as possible, but having an internship is a great stepping stone to a job. Plus, there’s not as much competition in the fall for a lot of these internships.
Think about it. At least go by and talk to Dr. Barthlow about what’s available. He told me he’s going to be around on Thursday, and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you emailed him and made an appointment. If you need a reference, let me know.

Let’s talk some more about coming up with and refining story ideas. This little discussion on a sports journalist bulletin board shows how it’s always a problem. How about some new media ways to come up with ideas?
Here’s a few story ideas for free, from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies here at GSU. Notice they also have an experts guide, something most universities have these days, since their PR folks are eager for you to quote their professors. Here’s a similar story idea site from Ohio State. There’s nothing wrong with using the suggestions of PR people to help you do stories, but you want to be aware that as a journalist, it’s your responsibility to check out all the facts and be sure that you’re getting as many different perspectives on the story as possible, not just the one offered by the PR folks.

With the new movie coming out there is a lot of excitment from fans. IMAX all over the country is sold out for the opening, and several theatres are sold out as well. A possible story would could highlight this as well as talk to some of the fans who are going to the debut at midnight.
I myself am going to a midnight showing and I know that one of the people I going with is going in costume (die hard fan) so it will be an interesting night.

The Olympics are rapidly approaching and it brings to mind the 96′ olympics and how aAlanta prepared for it. What are some comparisons and contrasts?
